The syndrome "cauda equina" has a polyethological structure, and the clinical manifestation is often similar to the disease that is characteristic of the lumbosacral spine with a pronounced neurological deficit. The pathological process can be complicated by conditions, which are manifested by degenerative changes in the form of stenoses at the level of L7- S1, also by herniated intervertebral discs, abnormal deformations of the spine with an unbalanced diet, orthopedic diseases such as hip dysplasia and arthritis. The diagnostic process should have a comprehensive approach that includes RTG studies using stressful patient placement, contrast myelography for soft tissue imaging and additional radiological studies such as CT and MRI. The timely provision of surgical care by the method of hemilaminectomy promotes the rapid restoration of the general condition of the animal and the preservation of nervous trophism.
